What the Lord Says Regarding Peace
And let the peace of God rule in your hearts. (Colossians 3:15, ASV)
Have you ever noticed how much the Lord has to say about peace in the Bible? Both the Old and New Testaments are filled with instruction regarding peace. We are to have peace of mind, peace in our relationships and with one another, peace in our heart, and peace with God. Peace is to be our way of life, our mantra, our goal; the master of our soul and being. Peace is to rule our heart.
Today it is evidenced that the number of people who are not led by nor filled with God’s peace are increasing. So much destruction and tragedy seem to be fueled by a lack and absence of peace.
The start of a brand-new year is a great time to reacquaint ourselves with what the Lord has to say about peace. A great time to research and revisit those places in God’s Word that extol and point us to peace, which remind us about the blessings we receive and which living with peace can bring.
When something rules in our heart it is the master over us. Can we say that God’s peace is not only treasured in our heart but rules in our hearts and is our fervent and passionate pursuit in life? Let’s Pray
Lord, let your peace not only be treasured by us, but rule in us and in our lives, and may our speech, our relationships, and journeys be a reflection of the peace which only you can give and send. Amen
