Jesus Will Give You Perfect Strength
Key Verse to Read and Treasure
Seek the LORD and his strength; seek his presence continually! (I Chronicles 16:11)
For Insight
Every branch on Jesus’ Vine has everything they need which includes an endless flow of peace of mind, healing, and spiritual discernment. His branches have access to wisdom, self-control, and an uninterrupted flow of strength. Filled with Jesus’ strength we can do things we would not ordinarily be able to do by ourselves or under our own power.
Asaph wrote, “My heart and my flesh may fail but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever (Psalm 73:26). He knew the Lord would provide spiritual, emotional, and physical strength for weakness.
The woman with the issue of blood heard Jesus was coming to town. She felt in her spirit that if she could only touch the hem of his garment she would be healed. When she arrived at the place he would be, she was determined to get close enough to touch his robe and when she did, she was healed just as she trusted (Read Luke 8:43-48).
If this woman only touched him for a brief moment but the power flowing from Jesus was so strong her bleeding that had flowed continuously for more than twelve years, suddenly dried up, can you imagine the power flowing from him into your life and circumstances if you come and remain with him?
Can we receive help and strength from Jesus by coming to him once? Yes. Many were healed and strengthened just this way. All it takes is one look at the Savior to be strengthened or encouraged. But if we seek wholeness, if we seek continual strengthening, if we seek wisdom that lasts for more than one situation, then we don’t want to just come and leave, read one passage in our Bible and shut it up, go to worship one Sunday out of the year, then we need to dwell continually in his presence.
Paul knew better than almost anyone how God’s strength is made perfect in our weakness (Read 2 Corinthians 12:8-10) and in Jesus all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell. The fullness of the Godhead: the essential nature, comprising all the attributes of the Godhead dwell in Jesus.
The strength of Jesus includes strength of body, emotions, strength of heart, strength of will for determination. Strength from the Vine will assure we have strength to endure hardships. Strength to undergo suffering. Strength to rise above our lowly circumstances. Strength to meet any and every challenge that comes our way. There is no situation, trouble, or circumstance we will not have strength for when we determine to abide in Jesus.
Jesus, I reach out my hand today to touch the hem of your garment but I also rest my heart in yours to receive all the goodness and strength that flows from you. Amen
