Tis the Season for Miracles and Wonders
Key Verse to Read and Treasure
And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus…And Mary said to the angel, “How will this be, since I am a virgin?” and the angel answered her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the MOST High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy—the Son of God.—Luke 1:31,34,35
For Insight
If you are one who coincides prayer with the church year or season then you already know one of the most powerful seasons to pray for breakthrough and deliverance is during Easter, and that Lent is a great time to pray for submission and a higher discipline of the soul.
During the Christmas season my husband and I remember to pray fervently for those who are sick, or troubled in a special way, who are in dire circumstances that no human can change. Over the years we have seen God do tremendous things, miracles, and wonders in the lives of those whose circumstances were not looking very promising.
When we are going though trials and tribulation, challenges, and confusion it’s easy to forget we belong to a mighty God, powerful and strong, who is able to work miracles. In the Old Testament we see God do some amazing things in the lives of his own people: part the red sea, free them from captivity, sustain them in wilderness, win wars and secure victories. We see him save and deliver, heal, and cleanse, and we learn of him as the God who comes to save us; the God who sees us; the God who is El Shaddai and Jehovah Jireh. But we have not even seen the greatest miracle he is going to pull off and that is putting flesh on His Son, Jesus, and sending him as a baby through the womb of a virgin. This is one that should get our attention and fill us full of hope. Because God sent Jesus in such a miraculous way, we can learn to praise him in advance anytime we are facing something that has no answers or way out we can see. The same question God answered for Abraham centuries ago is still being proven today, “Is anything too hard for God?” and in the birth of Jesus and all the miracles God has done before and since we can respond “no” nothing is too hard for God!
Our God, great and mighty to perform miracles and wonders wipe away all doubt and reach into our tattered lives to work miracles and wonders. Amen
