Time for War!

Key Verse to Read and Treasure

A time for war (Ecclesiastes 3:8, ESV)

For Insight

Like hate, wartime must be put into proper context. Because both serve the purposes of God, both align with his righteous plans to bring salvation, save souls, and advance the kingdom of God on earth. Both are appropriate for their proper time.

Just as love and peace are defining characteristics, hate and war have their place. War and peace are not opposites, enemies, nor contradictory seasons but counterparts in God’s grand scheme which is always beyond our ability to comprehend or accept.

War is ugly and there are always casualties of war. It is not a tactic or activity that should be entered lightly, thoughtlessly, or used against others who are nothing more than human opponents. Reserved for only true enemies who can do real damage. These can only be defined Satan and his evil band which are same enemies of God. Paul wrote we do not war against flesh and blood but against principalities, rulers and authorities (Eph. 6:12). Jesus

Our goal is not to avoid war with the enemy of our soul, knowing, at times we will need to wage war. Entering with confidence and assurance. A long as we have the correct weapons to fight—which are, as Paul wrote: prayer, faith, the Word of God, and the sword of the Spirit—we have no reason to draw back or be fearful because we will be victorious in battle.

Jesus said the kingdom of God cannot be taken peacefully, but by (Matthew 11:12). Since a well thought out, and well—waged war will result in casualties the forces of evil should fall and collapse when they come up against the children of God. Their plans should be thwarted when we pursue them in war. With one another we are to put on the “shoes of peace” but against the forces of evil we are to wage war.

Praying Ecclesiastes 3:8

Jesus, when I go into war against any enemy as long as I have you, the Spirit of God, the Word of God, and faith, I am guaranteed to have victory. Let me be confident to not only stand firm in war but to wage war against the enemy to drive him back. Amen
