Throughout All Ages

Key Verse to Read and Treasure

Your name, O LORD, endures forever, your renown, O LORD, throughout all ages (Psalm 135:13, ESV)

For Insight

What a great song of praise and worship God’s children sang as they made their way to worship at the temple in Jerusalem. They were recalling and rejoicing in the fact that God’s greatness lies not only in His acts of creation but also in His acts of redemption, his deliverance, fulfillment of his promises, and His intervention throughout history. As David wrote in Psalm 102:12; God is enthroned forever; he is remembered throughout all generations. And think of how many generations there had been since the time of Moses, when he stood trembling and in awe beside the burning bush while God reminded him He was the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. God was not the created, but Creator, creating all things in existence. The establisher of everything and every generation. Whether we believe in God or not does not change who He is or that He exists. Just as He has been in existence long before we came to be long after we are gone, until the end of the age God will be here with us, watching over the activities of the world, orchestrating and ordaining things to happen or ceasing things that.

God’s renown is not established because we remember Him or have seen His works and glory during our lifetime, but his renown is as eternal as He is; it has always been and always will be. So great is God, all Moses needed to tell Pharaoh was “I AM” had sent him (Exodus 3:15). Pharaoh may not have been a believer or child of God but he knew who God was and had witnessed His mighty works. The name, power, and person of God had preceded Him.

How does this truth about God impact you presently, as you consider God’s renown touching your circumstances? Can you imagine the possibilities in your life when you trust in the God of all ages? Consider that God is not a newcomer or new to the challenges you face, the hurdles you must jump, the walls you need to knock down, the hills you need to climb?

Praying Psalm 135:15

What a mighty God you are! What a mighty God we serve! Your name, O God, endures through all generations and for all eternity. Before you, nothing was and every creature in heaven and on earth exists because you created it for your purposes and glory. Amen
