Blessed Assurance

Key Verse to Read and Treasure

Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who has promised is faithful. (Hebrews 10:22-23, ESV)

For Insight

Our son feels strongly about receiving any message that include the well-known and often-used phrase “You got this!” he prefers the more detailed version stating how and why “he has whatever “this or it” is. But for others “You got this!” is all they need to feel undergirded or more confident about what they are facing. “You got this!” can mean they know what to do, can handle what is before them, have the strength, character, or intellect to deal with something.

I almost hear Jesus saying that very thing to his disciples before he ascended into heaven. Having called them back to shore after they had gone fishing on the sea of Tiberias after his resurrection (Read John 21:1-14 ), and now with them on the mountain where he gave them final instructions before departing to heaven where he was going to be sitting at the right hand of God, constantly interceding for them before the Father and sending the Holy Spirit to indwell and walk with them. In essence he was telling them go ahead and do the work you have been trained to do, touch lives, make disciples everywhere you go, teach, and preach, heal, and deliver, always remember “You got this!” you know what to do and I won’t leave you alone for one second, you won’t have to do anything on your own. You can be confident and assured because my power, authority, protection, and love will be with you.

What in your life do you need to be reminded that you have whatever “it or this” is? What are you facing that you need to be reminded you can do or accomplish whatever is before you? What season, activity, situation, or circumstance is ahead or in front of you that hearing or being reminded “you got this!” will be helpful, inspiring, assuring? The very same presence and message that assured the disciples as they took on the task of forming the early church is the very same message Jesus speaks to you today in your life circumstances regardless of what “it or this” is.

Praying Hebrews 10:22-23

Jesus our Savior you not only assured your disciples of your help but also their ability to take on the most difficult tasks and mission before them. May we also each day and every challenge remember your words and remember especially how you are with us always and daily to strengthen, lead, guide, help and fill us so nothing is too big or too much for us. Amen

Prayer Challenge

Pray the Lord fill you up with assurance, so you know without a doubt no matter what you are facing or enduring “you got this!”
