For he knows our frame; he remembers that we are dust (Psalm 103:14, ESV)
For Insight
Can you believe that many Christians are not willing to admit they get angry? That they have difficulty forgiving others or accepting God’s forgiveness for themselves, that they are wrong sometimes and have a past life that does not look so great, clean, or holy? Unwilling to admit they struggle with self-worth, God’s approval, depression, anxiety, negative emotions, and struggle with human thoughts or have not fully accepted God’s unconditional, eternal love for them?
God wants us to live securely in his love and to be willing to accept the truth about our human condition and feel at peace about our earthly journey because he accepts us as the interdependent people, he created us to be. In Psalm 103 David reminds us that God sees we are flesh, frail and does not consider us otherwise. A human cannot be an angel. We are saints through the blood of Jesus Christ, but we are not yet sinless saints, but saints that still sin, have human emotions, and struggle in many ways during our journey. We are to accept our frailness and accept God’s perfect plan of redemption and salvation through Jesus Christ for us.
The Christian that acknowledges his or her struggles, limits, and sin, and has made peace with the forgiveness and acceptance from God is a free spirit; liberated from the devil’s accusations and powers of persuasion. That person can witness what they have been through in life and what they know about God, freely and truthfully. They are not living in fear of being rejected by God or kept out of heaven, they are not worried about their realness showing through, and they are happy and at peace inwardly and it shows outwardly.
