Regarding Well-Placed Hope

When she heard about Jesus, she came behind him in the crowd and touch his garment. For she said, “If only I may touch his clothes, I shall be made well. (Mark 5:27,28, NKJV)

Whenever we go to Jesus, however we come to him, Jesus always responds and never disappoints those who place their hope in him. When we place our hope in Jesus that is different than saying “I hope so…” or “Maybe it will work out okay; we’ll see…” but hope that says “I know, I believe Jesus can and will!”

The woman with the issue of blood had hoped before. Each time she paid out money for care and each time her hopes had been dashed and she was disappointed. By the time she sought Jesus she was financially depleted and out of places to put her hope. Her hopelessness led her to the right place: Jesus! (Mark 5:25-34)

Think of the times you have been stripped of hope, depleted, out of everything and turned to Christ—put all your hope in him and he did not disappoint you.

When we place our hope in the world or others it’s like a coin-toss: it may or may not turn out well—but when we place our hope in Jesus, we will not be disappointed. Anyone who has come to him, whatever our condition, whatever our trouble or depth of need or circumstance, Jesus will always respond favorably and in ways that exceed our greatest expectations. Let’s Pray,

Jesus we can safely place our hope in you, and you will not disappoint us. We can replace “I hope he will,” or “we’ll see,” with “I know he will.” Amen
