What the Lord Says Regarding Your Value

Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? (Matthew 6:26, ESV)

We can learn a lot from birds, in fact, they can serve as a great teacher and example for us whenever we question or doubt God’s care of us, his concern for us, and provision for us even ahead of time.

Jesus asked if even a little bird which sold at a discounted rate in the marketplace (you could purchase two birds for the price of one). A little bird which cannot  plant nor reap or store up things for the future; a little bird that cannot contribute to society, help in the wellbeing of others, support itself in any way, and is totally dependent upon God to provide for them, is valued by God, why would we, as contributing, savvy, hard-working humans, formed by God’s own hand for his own purposes, those for whom he did not even spare or withhold his only Son, Jesus, for one moment doubt God’s love, care, concern, and provision for us?

The Lord knows once we stop questioning our value, his love for and covering of us, we will be come as trusting and confident as the birds of the air are, and live accordingly. Let’s Pray,

What great lessons even the little birds of the air can teach us, Lord! May we learn life-lessons from them. May we finally grasp how great is your love and how much you value us. Amen
