A Prayer Regarding God’s Grace

much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and through the free gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ. (Romans 5:17, ESV)

We may not think a lot about it, Lord, but grace is a really big deal! Before Paul writes this statement before us today, he wrote about the free gift that came about because Jesus was willing to die for lowly and despicable sinners. Though death reigned and was spread through Adam, life came and righteousness through Christ which also spread to all humanity so that death no longer reigns over God’s people, but we are now restored, forgiven, joined to Christ’s resurrection and heirs of life; an abundant life that can only come through a rich, live and passionate relationship with him.

Every time we experience your love instead of your ire; we also experience your grace. Every time our sin is forgiven instead of being held against us; we are experiencing grace. Every time our sins are forgotten, thrown into the spiritual sea; we are experiencing your grace instead of experiencing your long memory which would not go well with us or in our favor. Every time we are strengthened, filled with that unexplainable peace, healed and being rekindled in so many ways; we are experiencing your grace.

Thank you for your grace and the promise of abundant grace that looks like so many things for us. Grace is not a chameleon to be hidden from us, but takes on so many forms that it may be revealed to us in new and meaningful ways each day and season of our life. Thank you for being so generous to and compassionate toward us that your grace may become a testimony of your love and deep commitment to us.

May we never consider grace as mundane, cliché or common, but always humbled by it, renewed through it, and convinced of your love because of it. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen

Prayerful Act of Love Towards Yourself and Others:

Consider grace and all the ways you experience God’s grace in your life then make it a topic of conversation with someone else.
