With Loud Singing
He will exult over you with loud singing. (Zephaniah 3:17)
Years ago our daughter shared a funny story about her youngest daughter Sklyer who was no more than three at the time. Skyler loves to sing praise songs to the Lord and ever since she was a little baby, she had had a deep, vibrato voice that just makes goose bumps go over you when she sings. During one trip to the mall Skyler began singing a praise song that echoed throughout the corridors of the two-story building, filled with shoppers. The more our daughter tried to get Sky to stop singing, the louder Sky got. The more our daughter shushed her, the louder Sklyer sang, until finally Skyler cried out in a loud, hoarse voice, “don’t shush me!” I empathized with my daughter and understood her embarrassment as a parent, but at the same time couldn’t help but have a good laugh.
Isaiah says God sings over us with loud singing. Meaning his blessings are so great, wonderful, and grand they cannot be covered up, not even by the harshness and darkness of this unbelieving world, and he will not be quieted no matter how much his lavish, showy love makes the rest of the world uncomfortable. I heard someone say recently God’s love and blessings are not only extraordinary, but they are also ridiculous to the world. To that I will add they are undeniable, unmistakable, and unshushable! Let’s Pray
Exult over us, Lord, with loud singing! Bless us, Lord with extraordinary, even ridiculous blessings! We will not be embarrassed, we will not pull away, we will not shush you! Amen
