Expect a Breakthrough
A woman in the crowd had suffered for twelve years with constant bleeding. She had suffered a great deal from many doctors, and over the years she had spent everything she had to pay them, but she had gotten no better. In fact, she had gotten worse. She had heard about Jesus, so she came up behind him through the crowd and touched his robe. For she thought to herself, “If I can just touch his robe, I will be healed.” Immediately the bleeding stopped, and she could feel in her body that she had been healed of her terrible condition. (Mark 5:24-29)
Can you feel or sense when you have experienced or are about to experience a breakthrough with something? The woman in this story had a physical issue she had been trying to break free from for more than a decade. She had been to many doctors and spent lots of money, but for some reason, this time she felt in her spirit and mind she was going to be free, finally liberated.
Jesus wants us to have that kind of feeling and anticipation any time we come to him for healing, from any condition. Christ is our healer today like he was this woman’s healer, then. Our need for healing can be related to anything, it does not have to be physical, but goes beyond that. That does not mean we will not have to press for our healing, or that we won’t suffer some—or even a long time—before healing is experienced in our situation. But when we come to Christ and touch the hem of his garment (today that could include studying his word, believing on, and living his promises, praying, fasting, seeking godly counsel, and medical or psychological care) we will experience the healing we need and long for.
In the end, this woman was able to rejoice, and so will we when we reach out to touch Christ just as she did. Let’s Pray,
Jesus, you remain our Healer. May we always seek you and desire to touch the hem of your garment knowing we will be healed in Jesus’ name. Amen
