A woman in the crowd had suffered for twelve years with constant bleeding. She had suffered a great deal from many doctors, and over the years she had spent everything she had to pay them, but she had gotten no better. In fact, she had gotten worse. She had heard about Jesus, so she came up behind him through the crowd and touched his robe. For she thought to herself, “If I can just touch his robe, I will be healed.” Immediately the bleeding stopped, and she could feel in her body that she had been healed of her terrible condition. (Mark 5:24-29)
The woman in this story did a beautiful thing for herself. It seems she had been suffering for some time, more than twelve years from a condition she could not get relief from. By the time she heard Jesus was coming to her town she had spent a lot of money, been under the care of many doctors, and suffered in her life and body for an extensive period of time. After learning Jesus was visiting, she determined to get close enough to touch him and felt in her heart of faith she would be healed.
Like this woman, one of the best things we can do for ourselves is to take care of ourselves and when we have something going on; an issue that needs addressing, whether physically, emotionally, mentally, or spiritually, we should take whatever steps needed to solve our issue and become whole. Let’s Pray,
Lord, give me the strength and courage I need to seek and secure the help I need to experience the health I need for my life. Amen
