A Remedy for Doubt
When doubts filled my mind, your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer. (Psalm 94:19, NLT)
Doubt is part of the human experience. We would not be human if we didn’t have times of doubt. Even Christians are subject to doubt. Even when we have strong faith in the Lord, are seasoned, tested, and tried Christians, seen God work in powerful and majestic ways, and experienced his miracles firsthand we will still have moments where doubt creeps in and we will have to overcome it.
When we don’t deal with doubt, take our doubts to the right Person and place they will end up becoming a giant hurdle or barrier to what God has in store for us. Doubts are nothing but fear of the unknown. When we can’t see or know something with certainty, or when things are too big for us alone, we doubt.
The psalmists testified he had those moments also. He also experienced those moments and occasions of doubt but he also learned where to take them. He took them to the Lord and the Lord gave him comfort and also renewed his hope and did something unexpected: the Lord cheered his up! What a good word and example for us when we experience doubt in our life and circumstances! Let’s Pray,
Sometimes we doubt too, Lord. We don’t want to, we want to say we never doubt, but its human nature. You give us a place to bring our doubts, but you don’t just provide a place, you comfort us, renew our hope in you, and cheer us up. Thank You! Amen
