A Prayer About the Power of God to Clear up Confusion
For God is not a God of confusion but of peace. (I Corinthians 14:33, ESV)
In ancient times, Lord, the vast majority of people were illiterate and news was spread by word of mouth which meant that sometimes confusion entered in. Today we are flooded with nonstop information. It comes to us in different forms and through various mediums which also causes confusion and unrest.
We need your help, Lord, to sort through all the information. What’s true? What is false? What is good to take in, meditate on, and what should be dismissed quickly, recognized for what it is: false and misleading?
Many people use all sorts of methods for sorting through information and finding truth. Today there are so many ways to obtain information: the internet, social media, friends, family, but You are the only reliable source where truth can be found. Your truth is not biased, based upon political policies or worldly ideologies. You never contradict yourself. You don’t have a need to sway us to one side or another and You never have to apologize because you misspoke or told us something misleading. Your truth is consistent, pure and simple. It does not seek to destroy nor bring harm any of us.
The world’s truth sometimes tells us to follow our urges, to listen to our own voice, to go with the flow of whatever is going on in this world, but You always point us to Your word, that which You have spoken from the beginning of time.
Lord, we appreciate and are thankful that in You there is no confusion or anything misleading, only truth and peace. Amen
A Prayerful Activity:
The next time you are tempted to receive something as truth, lay it against the Word of God and ask your
Self whether that “truth” lines up with what God says in his word. Pray to the Holy Spirit to lead you into all truth and God to turn confusion into wisdom, clarity and peace.
