Not About Anything!

Do not worry about anything but pray and ask God for everything you need. (Philippians 4:6, CEV)

For some, this will be more like “Tis the season to be worried, instead of jolly!” What causes you the most anxiety? What troubles you most? Your health? The cost of things? Your finances? Your job or lack of one? Your home/shelter or lack of one? Your or your children’s future? The recent events and outbreaks of violence abuse, or war in this world and country? How all these perplexing things going on will pan out?

So much we can be worried about in these days and times. And each time we revisit Paul’s sermon on worry we can apply it for the times we are living in. Paul says, when we are tempted to take the path of worry, we should pause instead, we should take a different route. Instead of worrying we should pray and talk to God about everything that we are tempted to stuff into our carry-on luggage or  drag through our day in our thoughts and heart. We should pause and ask God to supply every need that we have, we should express our fears, apprehension, anxiety, and doubt to him, and the God that understands exactly how we are feeling and what we are going through will supply our need.

God knows our troubles are real, our brain is crammed with many thoughts, our hearts are heavy, and our life-plates are full, but he is able to address all of these and supply whatever is needed. Let’s Pray,

We don’t want to worry, Lord, but so often we find ourselves doing just that. Thank you that such a simple activity such as prayer can remove our worry and bring needed relief. Amen

Reflective Questions for Soul-Tending:

What are the things that worry you most? Is there anything too big for God to handle or supply?

How will you incorporate today’s message into your plan of soul-care?
