God Loves You

As I have loved you. (John 15:13, ESV)

At times we might feel as though we need to earn someone’s love through things or behavior. That the love we receive or enjoy from them is based upon the way we perform: if we do the right things or do things their way. That kind of love or acceptance can keep us off balance, feeling insecure, unsure of ourselves, and uncertain of where we stand with them. Today they might love us but tomorrow they may not.

God’s love is not that way. In fact, his love is not even something we can earn or gain through the things we do. He is not waiting for us to do something or perform a certain way before he extends love. But He loves us “just because.” Just because he made us, just because he has promised to love us. His love is steadfast and unconditional. He fulfills every human’s need to be loved and loves generously. When we are feeling unloved or weary of always striving after love we can remember how God’s love is always with us, how he not only loves us, but lavishes his love upon us. it’s a healing, beautiful, reliable, and unconditional love. Let’s Pray,

God thank you for not only not withholding your love from us but for not requiring we do anything special to be loved by you. You simply love us just because we are yours. Amen
