Encouraging Affirmation: I am Loved!

So that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God—Ephesians 3:17-19

Oftentimes when I pray for my grandchildren, just as I prayed for my children when they were growing up, I pray that they know this kind of love and have this kind of spiritual strength Paul writes about here because they will need it as they grow up and live in this world that will not always love them back, and never love them the way God, their Creator does. I pray that they will always know this perfect, unconditional, all-surpassing love of God that is theirs, no matter what, whether they are feeling loved by others or not.

There are three truths about God’s love we should always be aware of and never forget:

1.God loved us first (I John 4:19)

2.God’s love is unconditional (1 Chronicles 16:34)

3.God’s love is eternal (Psalm 136)

These three truths—when they have become a part of and engrained in our thoughts, heart, and knowledge, will dismantle every lie the enemy whispers that contradicts this fact, close our ears to every human message we have heard which goes against this truth, and demolish every inner thought we repeat to ourselves during those moments we are feeling lost, alone, abandoned, betrayed, sorry for ourselves, or feeling unloved or unlovable.

Out of love we were created; we are God’s lovechild. And God showed his love for us by sending his own beloved Son, Jesus to redeem us even when we messed up so badly. By his love God continues to sustain, protect, and cover us. Because God loved us first, created us in his image which gives us the capacity to love, we can love him and others in return.

One way our heavenly Father demonstrates and reaffirms his love for us is by not rejecting us, even with all our issues, vices, weaknesses, and shortcomings. But he continues to reach out to us and let us know his desire to be in and continue an intimate, loving relationship with us.

God’s love for us did not just start when we were born but began before we were ever thought of. Before he created the earth, he already has us in mind and on his heart and his love will be with us for all eternity, not just when we die, but into infinity as we live on with him in heaven.

God wants us to be certain of his love for us that it is real, deep, unshakable, incomparable, and limitless, so we can have the kind of spiritual strength Paul writes about in Ephesians. God knows the world will try to hide it from us, the devil will try to steal it away from us, and we will sometimes believe that our present sufferings mean God does not love us.

God wants us to be assured and be strong in the knowledge that his love is pure and cannot be corrupted or influenced by human behavior. Not even when we do the most terrible things, are the most horrible people, he still loves us. Even now we can remember some of the most horrible things we have said, the most terrible things we have done and still have peace and be exceedingly glad knowing  God’s love has not dimmed, changed, or stopped, not even for one second, but is still ours and always will be.

Once we are sure of God’s great love for us there is never any reason for us to feel unloved or to think and believe in our soul that we are unloved, and not only that, knowing we are loved so completely, eternally, and perfectly makes us want to tell others about how much God loves them so they can enjoy being loved so completely as well! Let’s Pray,

Dear God, I am so happy to know how much love you have for me. Not the kind of love that comes and goes, or based upon my own goodness, but love that is pure, steadfast and unshakable. Thank you for loving me always and completely and for helping me to know your love will never change or go away. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

Affirm God’s love over yourself:

I (name) am loved by God!

I (name) am surrounded by God’s love, covered by God’s love, eternally in God’s love, safe in God’s love. nothing can take his love from me! Amen
